Backstory: There once was a Princess named Melody. Melody was fifth-teen. Her mother taught her, but her father mostly avoided her. She was an only child. She was, of course, Princess of Mobius. But she was also a Chaos Emerald. The missing Eighth Chaos Emerald. She met Daniel a few days after her 15th birthday. Daniel Dune, however, was a peasant. They were forced to love each other in secret. But, one day, Melody found out about Laine. Her mother was furious when she found out about her daughter's love, so the Queen sent out a witch. The witch turned Daniel into a tree.
Melody was very upset, and ran away. She found a new house in the Holy Grounds, where she lived in secret until she had her son; Laine. Melody was found by the Royal Guard and was forced back to the castle. They captured Laine and sent the 2 month old away, to be executed since he was only half Chaos Emerald. But, a man saved him and raised him until he was 3. The man died soon after his 3rd birthday, so he raised himself in the Holy Grounds. He has turned to a life of what most, he himself, call evil. He hates the Chaos Emeralds, though he is half of one. When he was sixteen, he met a fox, whom was 4, named Luke.
Laine brought it upon himself to raise the child after he was forced to murder the boy's parents just a few weeks after they met. The Prince has an evil side of him, and once that side orders him to do something, he has to obey. He had never told Luke about his past, wanting to tell the young fox when he is older. Laine's theme songs describe how he feels about his parents, and being forced to grow up alone. This is why he hates Chaos Emeralds; because his mother, Melody, was and is one. And, in his eyes, Melody abandoned him.
